DD Freedish conducting 39th e-auction for vacant MPEG-4 slots

Now the wait is over, Doordarshan is going to conduct its first e-auction for MPEG-4 slots of DD Free dish. This e-auction will be complete on 27th March 2019.

Prasar Bharati inviting TV channels for MPEG-4 slots at very low reserve price starting from Rs.5.00 Lakhs.

International Public Broadcasters licensed/registered by the Ministry of I&B can also
participate in e-auction for MPEG-4 vacant slots.

Important questions:

Can we receive MPEG-4 channels in MPEG-2 set-top boxes?

No, you need DD Free dish iCAS enabled MPEG-4 set-top box to enjoy MPEG-4 channels.

Can we use any MPEG-4 / HD set-top box to watch MPEG-4 channels?

No, now all MPEG-4 channels will be scrambled due to the security of iCAS. These channels can be received only in iCAS certified or supported set-top boxes.

Which channels are participating in this e-auction?

It totally depends on channel owners that they want to participate or not.

Why popular Hindi channels removing from DD Freedish?

Because all channels did not participate in the 38th e-auction. DD Free dish or Prasar Bharati is not responsible for that.

Where we can buy iCAS enabled DD Free dish set-top box?

You can visit any nearest electronic shop and ask for DD Free dish iCAS set-top box or you can find online from Snapdeal, Flipkart, Mahamargin orCatvIndia etc.
